Westmed’s Bariatric Surgeons treat patients using a variety of surgical procedures, depending on an individual’s needs. Our specialists have extensive experience with minimally invasive weight loss procedures and perform these procedures laparoscopically. Their areas of expertise include:
- Sleeve gastrectomy, a restrictive bariatric surgery where the surgeon creates a small, sleeve-shaped stomach
- Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery, where a small pouch is created and then attached to another part of the small intestine to reduce the amount of calories absorbed
- Gastric Balloon where an inflated balloon is left in the stomach, leaving less space for food
- Biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch, a procedure similar to the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass in which the duodenum—the first portion of the small intestine—is divided, so that pancreatic and bile drainage are bypassed
