
About the Provider
Ms. Szabo joins Westmed Behavioral Health as a licensed clinical social worker. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Columbia University, Ms. Szabo was awarded the Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University in addition to earning the Certificate in Trauma Specialization from Fordham University’s National Center for Social Work Trauma Education and Workforce Development. Ms. Szabo is certified in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Trauma Systems Therapy. To these therapeutic modalities, Ms. Szabo incorporates a person-centered and strengths-based approach that empowers and motivates individuals as they engage in the therapeutic process.
Prior to joining Westmed, Ms. Szabo worked as a psychotherapist at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Harrison, NY, assessing and treating high-risk individuals with severe emotional disturbance presenting with a wide range of diagnoses including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia and borderline personality disorder. Ms. Szabo also worked at New York Presbyterian Hospital in White Plains, NY, where she provided inpatient clinical social work services to high-risk individuals diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.
Preceding her studies at Columbia and Fordham, Ms. Szabo was awarded a full-tuition scholarship and majored in violin performance while studying in the Bachelor of Music degree program at the University of Hartford. Ms. Szabo is a certified Suzuki Violin Instructor, having taught for many years in both private and public schools while maintaining her own teaching studio and performance schedule consisting of solo, chamber and orchestral concerts.
