Dr. Slate received her bachelor of arts degree cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania. She was awarded her medical degree summa cum laude and as salutatorian of her class at  SUNY Downstate School of Medicine.

She completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital.  This was followed by a fellowship in hand surgery at the Philadelphia Hand Center.  Dr. Slate did an additional year of training in pediatric hand surgery at the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia.

Dr. Slate specializes in the treatment of the hand, including fractures, arthritis, endoscopic treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome, microsurgical reconstruction of nerve injuries, tendon repair, arthroscopic treatment of wrist and elbow disorders and congenital hand differences.

She is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Association of Surgery for the Hand and the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Dr. Slate joined Westmed with Orthopaedic Associates of Stamford in July 2016. She is affiliated with the Specialty Surgery Center of Connecticut, Greenwich Hospital and Stamford Hospital.
