Ashley Cardona, FNP, is a family nurse practitioner working in internal medicine. Ms. Cardona pursued a career in health care because she is passionate about public health and believes education is the key to promoting healthy lifestyles. She wanted to incorporate this hands-on approach in her career and felt that being a provider would allow her to do just that.

Working in primary care, Ms. Cardona enjoys her interactions with patients of all ages, getting satisfaction from providing preventative services to people in need. “I believe in shared decision making and want patients to be active participants in their own care,” she says. Ms. Cardona likes to provide her patients with options for treatments and encourages them to voice their own opinions to ensure more positive outcomes.

During a patient visit she says it is important for there to be transparent communication and active listening. Ms. Cardona wants patients to know they can trust her with their care. She enjoys working as a team with her patients and seeing them live healthier and fuller lives.

When she is not providing health care in the office, Ms. Cardona enjoys traveling with her husband, going to the beach, reading, concerts, and baking desserts. Her passion for health care also extends to all aspects of community health education, especially in health literacy.
