New CDC Guidelines for Vaccinated Individuals

New CDC Guidelines for Vaccinated Individuals

The CDC recently released guidance on relaxed social distancing/mask use for vaccinated individuals. This is a BIG step toward our “new normal”, and shows the benefits of vaccination, above and beyond protecting you from severe COVID-19 infection.

The following new guidelines are in place:

    • Fully vaccinated people may now visit indoors with other fully vaccinated people, without wearing masks or physical distancing.

    • Fully vaccinated people may now visit indoors with unvaccinated people from a single household, without wearing masks or physical distancing, as long as all members of the unvaccinated household are at low risk for severe infection.

    • Fully vaccinated people no longer have to be tested for COVID-19 infection or quarantine following exposure to an infected person, as long as the exposed person does not have symptoms of infection.

For now, fully vaccinated people should continue to:

    • Take precautions in public like wearing a well-fitted mask and physical distancing

    • Wear masks, practice physical distancing, and adhere to other prevention measures when visiting with unvaccinated people who are at increased risk for severe COVID-19 disease or who have an unvaccinated household member who is at increased risk for severe COVID-19 disease

    • Wear masks, maintain physical distance, and practice other prevention measures when visiting with unvaccinated people from multiple households

    • Avoid medium- and large-sized in-person gatherings

    • Get tested if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms

    • Follow guidance issued by individual employers

    • Follow CDC and health department travel requirements and recommendations

For the purposes of this guidance, people are considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19 more than 2 weeks after completing vaccination. Full CDC guidance can be reviewed here.
