Anthony Viceroy

Anthony Viceroy is the chief executive officer of Westmed Medical Group, an independent award-winning multispecialty healthcare organization, comprised of 500 physicians and advanced care providers with more than 1,500 employees caring for 350,000 patients throughout Westchester County, NY and Fairfield County, CT.

Under Mr. Viceroy’s leadership, Westmed has continued to expand its clinical service offerings to enhance the health and wellness of its patients while also curating a positive, engaged physician and staff workforce. By embracing innovation and technological advancements, Mr. Viceroy has opened the digital front door that has improved the patient’s experience and advanced quality initiatives. He has implemented enhanced platforms such as telehealth and remote patient monitoring which significantly expanded patient access and outreach. Additionally, Mr. Viceroy is directing the transition to a new EMR and practice management system to further improve patient engagement, population health and quality initiatives.

In 2020, Mr. Viceroy navigated Westmed through the COVID-19 pandemic maintaining continuous care for all patients coupled with financial stability. Throughout this time, Mr. Viceroy led the coordination of multiple cross-functional teams to ensure the safety of staff and patients. He secured PPE from international sources in the face of a national PPE shortage, provided frequent all-company updates, coordinated innovative screening measures across all Westmed’s sites and ensured immediate and crucial COVID-19 follow-up through virtual clinics to provide a safety net for patients who were dealing with this complicated virus. He also worked with his team to develop mental health support strategies to engage Westmed’s employee base and help them to feel safe and focus their energies throughout a year of unprecedented fear, anxiety and challenges. These are just a few examples which demonstrate Mr. Viceroy’s inspiring leadership throughout 2020.

In addition to his focus on maintaining excellence in quality initiatives, Mr. Viceroy has championed enhancements to the Westmed Patient Experience, and has led the group to achieve an impressive 95th percentile ranking for overall patient satisfaction, when compared regionally against other healthcare organizations in the community. Furthermore, Westmed has earned repeated industry recognition as one of the “Best Workplaces” in the country by Fortune magazine and “Great Place to Work” under his leadership.

Mr. Viceroy is dedicated to cultivating a workplace culture that fosters diversity and inclusion and demonstrates those values through the company’s actions. He has advocated the development of progressive programs at Westmed such as unconscious bias training, external recruitment practices that foster diverse hiring and developing Westmed’s performance management structure which allows leadership to equally identify top talent for career progression. As a result, Viceroy shaped a work environment and workforce that represents the diversity of the community served by Westmed. The front line staff at Westmed are 80 percent female, of which 56 percent represent diverse ethnicity. He is also proud to work with a management and leadership team that consists of 76 percent women of which 56 percent come from diverse backgrounds.

Mr. Viceroy’s efforts have earned Westmed, one of 517 Accountable Care Organizations operating in the Enhanced Medicare Shared Savings Program, a national reputation for its focus on improving the quality of care for patients, while reducing unnecessary costs in the healthcare system. According to the CMS Medicare Shared Savings Report, Westmed has ranked within the top 6% nationally for total savings generated, and has achieved savings consistently each year for CMS since inception.

Before assuming the position as CEO of Westmed Medical Group in 2015, Mr. Viceroy was president of Westmed Practice Partners (WPP), a management services organization with expertise in revenue cycle management, business and clinical analytics, and physician management. In that role, he directly oversaw all healthcare management services, and was integral in completing the sale of WPP to Optum in 2014. Prior to joining Westmed, Mr. Viceroy spent ten years in various leadership roles at Omnicom Group, a Fortune 200 global marketing and communications organization. Mr. Viceroy was part of Omnicom’s Diversified Agency Services (DAS) unit, the largest and fastest growing division within Omnicom Group. Mr. Viceroy served as global president and CFO of Porter Novelli, a worldwide public relations firm within the DAS network. In this position, Mr. Viceroy led the global strategy and operations to drive profitable growth, performance improvement and talent development on a global scale for client brands like HP, PepsiCo, McDonald’s, P&G, and Johnson & Johnson. He joined Porter Novelli from DAS, where he was senior vice president of client partnership working directly with Fortune 500 clients. Earlier in his professional career, Mr. Viceroy served as North American treasurer of the Danish biopharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk.

Mr. Viceroy received his MBA in global management and corporate finance from Fordham University, and his BBA in public accounting from Iona College. He holds an executive certificate from Cornell University in Healthcare Leadership. In addition, he has executive education certificates from Harvard University and Columbia University. He is a certified public accountant and a charted global management accountant.

Anthony Viceroy is a member of the Board of Advisors for New York Medical College and a trustee for Manhattanville College. He serves as a member of the board of directors of the Westchester County Association and the Bedford Physicians Risk Retention Group. He is a CEO Council Member of the American Medical Group Association (AMGA) and a member representative of the Northeast Business Group on Health. Additionally, Mr. Viceroy is a frequent speaker and guest contributor on numerous healthcare and business topics.
