Dr. Cushner has served as a research associate at the Medical University of South Carolina and with Insall Scott Kelly in New York City. His research interests include deep vein thrombosis treatment and prophylaxis, cartilage injuries, as well as orthopedic blood management.

He is a member of the U.S. Amateur Boxing Association as well as a team physician for the U.S. Snowboard Team. He lives in the area with his wife and three children, and is active in local sports serving as both an advisor and physician.
