Responsible for first assisting surgeons during variety of surgical sub specialty cases.  Must be able to scrub and circulate.  The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a perioperative registered nurse who functions in an expanded role.  Intraoperative surgical first-assisting includes but is not limited to using instruments/medical devices, providing exposure, handling and/or cutting tissue, providing homeostasis, and suturing.  This position also participates in pre-operative and immediate postoperative patient care.  The RNFA should have a diversified experience in scrubbing and circulating.
