Dr. Simeon Schwartz, president of WESTMED Medical Group, and Dr. Barney Newman, medical director at WESTMED, announce the opening of WESTMED’s affiliate, the Rye Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) on Tuesday, July 6, 2010. The Rye ASC is on the campus of WESTMED’s full-service, multi-specialty medical offices at 1 Theall Road in Rye, NY.

Thirty-two doctors from WESTMED Medical Group have been granted recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for their achievement in delivering high-quality care to patients with cardiovascular disease and/or stroke. The NCQA Heart/Stroke Recognition Program recognizes the following WESTMED physicians:

Effective February 1, the OB/GYN Division of the Scarsdale Medical Group, with offices at 170 Maple Avenue, White Plains, has joined the WESTMED Medical Group. The eight physicians, all board-certified in OB/GYN, will retain their current office location. All of them have hospital privileges at White Plains Hospital Center.

The WESTMED Medical Group, headquartered in Purchase, has received Level 3 recognition—the highest achievable level--for providing coordinated, efficient, and quality primary patient care--from the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) for the Patient-Centered Medical Home program. “This recognition shows that WESTMED has the tools, systems and resources to provide its patients with the right care at the right time,” said Margaret E. O’Kane, NCQA president.
