Effective February 1, the OB/GYN Division of the Scarsdale Medical Group, with offices at 170 Maple Avenue, White Plains, has joined the WESTMED Medical Group. The eight physicians, all board-certified in OB/GYN, will retain their current office location. All of them have hospital privileges at White Plains Hospital Center.

The WESTMED Medical Group, headquartered in Purchase, has received Level 3 recognition—the highest achievable level--for providing coordinated, efficient, and quality primary patient care--from the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) for the Patient-Centered Medical Home program. “This recognition shows that WESTMED has the tools, systems and resources to provide its patients with the right care at the right time,” said Margaret E. O’Kane, NCQA president.

The Westchester Medical Group, a multi-specialty group medical practice based in White Plains that has served patients in the Hudson Valley since 1996, announces the change of its name to WESTMED Medical Group today. At the same time, WMG is rolling out a newly designed Web site, which will enable patients to participate more actively in their health care and keep them in better touch with their doctors.

The Westchester Medical Group (WMG), one of Westchester County’s largest multi-specialty medical practices, has just signed a lease to occupy 31,662 square feet at 2700 Westchester Avenue in Purchase, NY. This space will serve as the company’s corporate headquarters and will provide ease of access to other properties that WMG occupies within the County.

The Westchester Medical Group (WMG) will be an entirely smoke-free/tobacco free campus by Independence Day, July 4, 2009, it was announced today by Dr. Simeon Schwartz, WMG president and Dr. Barney Newman, WMG medical director.

The Westchester Medical Group has received NCQA Physician Organization (PO) Certification in Credentialing and Recredentialing, making this the fourth measure of distinction for the multi-specialty practice from the National Committee for Quality Assurance, a private, nonprofit organization that is dedicated to improving health-care quality.

The Westchester Medical Group’s physicians announced today they have been granted approval by the New York State Public Health Council to build an ambulatory surgery center on the campus of WMG’s 1 Theall Road offices in Rye. Construction of The Rye ASC, LLC will likely start in early June 2009 in a currently unoccupied space on the ground floor of the medical office. A grand opening is expected by the end of this year.

Dr. Simeon Schwartz, president of The Westchester Medical Group of White Plains, will be on the panel, participating in the planning process. A competition will be designed to generate new ways to address the nation’s serious health care system challenges with a prize to be awarded to the winning company or individual and a $10 million-plus incentive, it was announced today by WellPoint, Inc., the nation’s largest health benefits company; the WellPoint Foundation, one of the largest corporate foundations in the United States; and the X PRIZE Foundation, the nation’s pre-eminent philanthropic organization focused on innovation through competition.
