The American College of Radiology (ACR) has named WESTMED Medical Group’s Radiology Department a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence.
With this status of excellence, the ACR recognizes WESTMED for earning accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast MRI and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy).
“I feel that this is a fitting symbol of our efforts to expand our breast health program and to leverage our multidisciplinary approach to serving the women of Westchester County and beyond,” said Dr. Rand Stack, board-certified WESTMED radiologist, speaking on behalf of the breast-imaging team.
To achieve the honor of “Breast Imaging Center of Excellence,” WESTMED voluntarily went through peer-review evaluations that were conducted in each breast imaging modality by leading board-certified physicians and medical physicists. They determined that WESTMED has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.
What is the ACR?
The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 36,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists.
The mission of the ACR is to serve patients and society by maximizing the value of radiology, radiation oncology, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine and medical physics. It works on increasing the value of the science by improving the quality of patient care, positively influencing the socio-economics of the practice of radiology, providing continuing education for radiology and allied health professions and conducting research for the future of radiology.
WESTMED salutes all of its hard-working breast-imaging team members!
