Dr. Virginia Daly and Sylvia Hoad, her LPN, volunteered for a week-long medical mission to Haiti from July 8-14, 2012. Dr. Daly thanks everyone who was involved in gathering supplies, contributing supplies and making donations so they could be shipped in time for the arrival of the medical teams.
“We reached out to well over a thousand patients,” Dr. Daly said, referring to the GYNs, ER medicine, internists, pediatrics and dentists, who flew in to Haiti for this mission. “It was an amazing experience,” she continued. “We were also able to help them out with some food, clothing, sandals and toys for the children and even some money for those who needed immediate hospital care but could not afford it”. WESTMED employees helped to pay for shipping costs that enabled supplies and toys to reach the Port au Prince area, the capital of Haiti.
Dr. Daly commented,” The people were so impoverished and so grateful for every little thing. Through the efforts of everyone at WESTMED and many others, we were able to bring a little hope and a smile to the faces of so many with so little.”
