The Westchester Medical Group (WMG) invites area residents to an Open House at the practice’s newly renovated 65,000-square-foot facility at 1 Theall Road in Rye, N.Y. for a tour and light refreshments. Two get-acquainted dates are being offered: Wednesday, October 24 or Thursday, November 1 between the hours of 4:00 p.m and 7:00 p.m.
WMG staff will take individuals on tour to see the location of the following specialty offices within the building: breast surgery, cardiology, critical care, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, geriatrics, hematology/oncology, internal medicine, nephrology, neurology OB/GYN, ophthalmology, optometry orthopedic surgery, otolaryngology, pediatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, plastic surgery, podiatry, radiology, general surgery, colorectal surgery, urgent care and urology.
The Rye Beach Pharmacy also has a branch on the first floor for the convenient filling of prescriptions.
Flu shots will be available for $25. According to Barney Newman, MD, medical director of Westchester Medical Group, October or November is the best time to be vaccinated to get protection from the flu. “Flu season can begin as early as October and last as late as May,” he explained.
Dr. Newman said it is advised that people in high-risk categories get vaccinated each year. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control identifies high-risk individuals as follows:
Anyone over 65 years old;
Those with chronic diseases, such as heart of lung disease, or diabetes;
Those with compromised immune systems regardless of age;
Healthcare workers, both institutional and home care workers;
People living in the same household as “high risk” individuals.
