The Westchester Medical Group’s physicians announced today they have been granted approval by the New York State Public Health Council to build an ambulatory surgery center on the campus of WMG’s 1 Theall Road offices in Rye. Construction of The Rye ASC, LLC will likely start in early June 2009 in a currently unoccupied space on the ground floor of the medical office. A grand opening is expected by the end of this year.
The Rye ASC will provide services to patients who do not require a hospital-based operating suite for a surgical procedure, using four operating rooms and two procedure rooms. “This will be a patient-oriented, state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery facility providing greater ease and comfort for patients and their families,” said Barney Newman, MD, WMG’s Medical Director. Common procedures performed at the Center will be in the areas of breast surgery, ENT, general surgery, urology, OB/GYN, plastic surgery, opthalmalogy, orthopedics, podiatry and vascular surgery.
“We’re excited to have the opportunity to expand the scope of services to our patients in this facility, to provide more coordinated, efficient, quality care,” said Simeon Schwartz, MD, WMG’s President.
Drs. Schwartz and Newman acknowledge David Manko and Benjamin Malerba, partners in the Health Services Group at Rivkin Radler, LLP, and Joan Camera, healthcare consultant and president of NJC Management Associates, for their efforts in this successful application.
“I am delighted that the Public Health Council has approved this project,” stated attorney David Manko. “The center will expand surgical options for the residents of Westchester County.”
