Dr. Simeon Schwartz, president of WESTMED Medical Group, and Dr. Barney Newman, medical director at WESTMED, announce the opening of WESTMED’s affiliate, the Rye Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) on Tuesday, July 6, 2010. The Rye ASC is on the campus of WESTMED’s full-service, multi-specialty medical offices at 1 Theall Road in Rye, NY.

“We’re excited to be able to offer patients the option of a full-range of outpatient surgical services with a minimal interruption in their lives and quality care before, during and after their procedures,” said Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Newman.

The Rye ASC will provide services to patients who do not require a hospital-based operating suite for a surgical procedure, using four state-of-the-art operating rooms—all equipped with the latest in technology. The anticipated number of procedures to be done will be 4,195 in the first year, 4,625 in the third year.

Specialty services include anesthesiology, breast surgery, general surgery, OB/GYN, orthopedic Surgery, otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat), plastic surgery, podiatric surgery, urology, vascular surgery and colorectal surgery.

“The clinical staff is comprised of highly skilled personnel who bring a wealth of experience with a focus on customer service,” said Shawn Fisher, MBA, PA, director of the Rye ASC. “Our goal is to provide patients with the most pleasant outpatient experience possible.”

Construction of The Rye ASC, an 14,490-square-foot facility, started in early June 2009 in an unoccupied space on the ground floor of WESTMED’s Rye medical facility.
